249461
The Sugar Basket is of an unusual tall Boat shaped form and stands on an oval pedestal foot which is unusually pierced with a band of vitruvian scrolls and which is engraved with various bands of prick dot designs. The main body has a beaded rim and arched handle and is also pierced with two bands of scrolls, as well as vertical pails and stylised flower heads in ovals. The main body is also engraved with various prick dot engraved bands, in addition to a navette shaped cartouche engraved with a contemporary Stag Crest. The Basket has a blue glass liner and is very well marked in the foot. It is most unusual to see this tall form and to find an example with a pierced foot is very rare. The Basket is in exceptionally crisp condition.
