HESTER BATEMAN.. A very rare George III Chamberstick made in London in 1782 by Hester Bateman.

The base is circular in form with a raised edge which is unusually decorated with a double beaded band. The central section raises to a tulip shaped socket and the detachable nozzle has a beaded edge. The scroll side handle is also decorated with the beaded band and has a holder for the conical extinguisher. The extinguisher terminates in a beaded bell finial and has an S scroll handle. The chamberstick is in excellent condition, is fully marked on the base and with the makers mark and sterling mark on both the nozzle and extinguisher.
