HESTER BATEMAN - A rare George III Drum Mustard Pot made in London in 1782 by Hester Bateman.
251715
The Mustard Pot is beautifully modelled in the Drum form, with a slightly spreading base and beaded rim. The sides are pierced with bands of vitruvian scrolls, vertical pails and flower head motifs in ovals. The sides and cover are also engraved with prick dot bands. The scroll handle is decorated with leaf capping and this example has a pierced fan shaped thumb piece. The Mustard has a star cut blue glass liner, is fully marked on the base and with the makers mark and sterling mark on the cover. This example is in quite excellent condition.
