EDINBURGH. A rare George III Campaign Beaker or Field Cup made in Edinburgh in 1783 by James Gilsland.

The Beaker is of an unusual form and displays an everted rim. The front is engraved with a navette shaped bright cut cartouche containing an unusual contemporary Scottish Crest with the motto Sursum - Upward above. The reverse is also engraved with a contemporary Crest. The beaker is of a very good gauge and is very well marked on the base.
