DUBLIN. A very rare Stone Topped Snuff Box made in Dublin in 1841 by Henry Flavelle.


The Snuff Box is broad rectangular in form, with cut corners. The sides are engraved with engine turning and the cover in inset with a very unusual panel of agate surrounded by reeded mounts. The base is engraved with, The Gift of Johm Macartney, Fifteenth Hussars, 29th May, 1844. The interior is very well marked and displays exceptional original gilding. Snuff Boxes from Ireland are very rare, especially with such an unusual agate cover.
