DUBLIN. A George III Bowl made in Dublin in 1787 by Matthew West.

The Bowl is a typical Irish design and stands on three hoof feet, which are attached to the main body with raying shell mouldings. The everted rim is decorated with a double beaded rim. The sides are engraved with Classical stylised foliate garlands, tied with roundels and the front displays a vacant navette shaped cartouche. The base is decorated with a raying star, also a typical Irish feature. This piece is very well marked and is in excellent condition. Bowls of similar designs are shown in Irish Silver by Douglas Bennett.
