This very rare piece has a circular base with shaped gadrooned border. The very unusual, shaped, domed cover has pleated sides and a reeded base. The cover terminates in a very unusual lobed, baluster, finial. Muffin Dishes, from the Georgian period, are very rare and this piece is of exceptional quality, being made by Robert Garrard, the Royal Silversmith. He was also to be elevated to the position of Crown Jeweller during the reign of Queen Victoria. This piece is in excellent condition and is very well marked on the base, cover and finial. The base also displays the retailers stamp of "Garrard -Panton Street, London". The Dish is of a very good weight and also has a fine colour.
