The Dish is modelled in the scallop shell form, with wide body, and stands on two winkle feet. The carrying handle is beautifully decorated with a border of gadrooning interspersed with scrolls and a Rococo raying shell at the top. The shell is fully marked on the reverse and also displays a ring, presumably for hanging it up in the silver safe when not in use. The handle is also engraved with a lozenge, containing two script initials, all surrounded by a shell and scroll cartouche.
