The Dishes are beautifully modelled as raying scallop shells, with deep bowls. The carrying handle is decorated with a Rococo shell flanked by acanthus foliage and leads to a gadrooned rim. Each shell stands on three paw feet and the attention to detail is exceptional, as the silversmith has textured the back of the feet to simulate the hair on the lion's paw. The base is also engraved with a contemporary Crest and displays a very crisp set of hallmarks. Both are in quite excellent condition and the gilded bowls protect them from anything which may be served from them.
