The Chamberstick has a circular bowl with raised rim, decorated with beading.  The central section rises to a vase shaped socket which is decorated with a beaded band and there is, unusually, no hole for the snuffer scissors.  This is a design which Hester Bateman made in the 1780's and is very rarely seen.  The side handle is decorated with leaf capping and the detachable nozzle, also has a beaded edge.  The bowl is also engraved with an unusual contemporary Crest.  The piece is in quite excellent condition and is fully marked on the base and on the nozzle.  William Abdy was a very fine silversmith who made fine beaded and pierced items.

Height: 2.75 inches, 6.88 cm.
