The Salver stands on three substantial raying shell cast feet with leaf capped scroll legs above. The main body has a raised shaped scroll rim with cast Rococo shells attached, flanked by foliate motifs. The centre is beautifully engraved with a contemporary Armorial surrounded by a Rococo shell, scroll and floral spray cartouche. The Salver is of the finest quality, with very crisp marks on the reverse. John Swift was a very fine maker and the size of this piece lends itself to not only serving drinks, but also for a variety of uses in the dining room.
