The Taperstick is cast and has a stepped shaped base which rises to a circular sunken well. The stem and shoulders are also shaped and the socket is decorated with reeding. This example is of a good gauge and colour and is very well marked in the base. John Cafe was a specialist Candlestick maker who had large workshops in London at this date.
