The Tray has an unusual elongated octagonal form with raised sides decorated, on the rim, with snake skin design. Each end also displays an anthemion motif, the first time we have seen this design. The centre is engraved with a contemporary Crest. It is unusual to find a Sheffield Tray from the Eighteenth century and this piece is very well marked.
