An unusual George III Balloon shaped Pepper Caster made in London in 1801 by John Emes.

The Pepper stands on a circular pedestal foot which is decorated with reeding. The balloon shaped main body rises to a reeded rim and the domed pull-off cover is pierced with unusual vertical pails and roundels. The interior displays original gilding and the interior of the foot displays a crisp set of hallmarks.
