An important and very rare George III Cast 'Flying Fish' Slice made in London in 1776 by George Smith.
239027
The Slice has a very unusual elongated cast blade which is pierced and engraved with foliate scroll work and very unusual flying fish motifs. Both the blade and the handle have a bright cut border and the top of the handle is engraved with a drapery cartouche, with trailing foliage below, which contains a contemporary Crest. This is the first time we have seen this unusual design and the quality and weight is exceptional. This specific piece is illustrated in Investing in Silver by Eric Delieb page 127.
