An extrmemely rare pair of early George III 'Openwork' Sprung Serving Tongs. Made in London circa 1770 by John Lambe.

The Tongs are of the arched sprung variety with cast arms, decorated with feather edge borders. Most unusually, however, the cast arms have pierced open work sections decorated with beautiful scroll work and feather edge designs. The central boss also displays bright cut designs. Both arms are marked with the makers mark and sterling mark.

Length: 9.5 inches, 23.75cm
