An extremely rare Royalist Medallion made most probably in London circa 1649-1659.

The Medallion is a cast of a very finely detailed portrait bust of King Charles I and displays a suspensory ring for wearing around the neck. These medallions are extremely rare and were born ( after the execution of Charles I) by Royalist supporters around their neck, under their clothes, to identify themselves to other supporters. This example is cast and is of the finest quality, as they were often die stamped. We feel that this must have been worn by a very important supporter of the Monarchy. This piece is in quite excellent condition and is unmarked, as they could hardly be sent for hallmarking during this anti-monarchist period !
