An extremely rare & important George III Glass Chiller, with matching pair of Wine Coasters, made in London in 1808 by Robert & Samuel Hennell.

The Glass Chiller is of a large size and circular in form, with an octagonal everted rim decorated with gadrooning and interspersed with raying shells, flanked by scrolls and acanthus foliage. This piece has a silver base and the front of the side of the main body is engraved with a contemporary Crest. This piece, unusually, has two drop ring handles for carrying. The matching Wine Coasters are also circular in form with an everted rim, modelled with six sides decorated with the same gadrooning and shells, as seen on the chiller. The coasters have fruitwood bases, which are centred with a circular silver boss engraved with the same Crest, as is seen on the front of the chiller. All pieces are fully marked and in quite excellent condition. Robert & Samuel Hennell, were exceptional silversmiths, known for their innovative designs.
