An extremely rare George IV Vinaigrette made in Birmingham in 1822 by Thomas Newbold.
257753
This rare Vinaigrette is unusually modelled as a handbag, with basket weave sides decorated with trailing vines and grapes. This beautiful example has corded arched handles and the interior grille is engraved with zig zag motifs and pierced with roundels. This is the first time we have seen this specific design of handbag Vinaigrette and the work of Thomas Newbold is particularly scarce.
