An extremely rare George IV Fox Head Snuff Box made in Birmingham in 1826 by the rare silversmiths, Tye & Kilner.

This very rare Snuff Box is modelled as a Fox head, with textured surface to simulate the fur of the fox. This example has an engine turned cover-lid, with vacant rectangular cartouche, displaying a chased floral border and thumb piece. Both the main body and cover are well marked and this piece is in excellent condition. Fox head Snuff Boxes are extremely scarce, especially by the rare makers, Tye & Kilner. A near identical example is shown in Silver Boxes, by Eric Delieb page 95. A similar example is also contained within the Lion Collection and is illustrated on page 230 of the catalogue. A very rare box.
