An extremely rare George III 'Thumb Scoop' Caddy Spoon made in Birmingham in 1804 by Joseph Taylor

The Caddy spoon is modelled in the very rare Thumb Scoop design with very deep bowl, scalloped rim, and domed handle, with tiny shoulders below. Very few spoons of this design were made, however they are nearly always made by Joseph Taylor. The handle has a rounded edge and is engraved with a prick dot border. The spoon is very well marked and is in excellent condition. A similar example is shown in Caddy Spoons by Captain Norie, Plate 42, fig b.
