An extremely rare George III Scottish Provincial Toothpick Box made circa 1820 in Scotland.
305759
The Toothpick Box is of a small size and must have been made for a Lady. The sides and base are decorated with bold reeding and the domed agate panel inset in the cover is beautifully shaded and held in place by a border of claws. The interior is finely gilded and is marked with the makers mark twice of DS in a shaped punch. The box has a definate Scottish feel to the design, especially with the agate inset into the cover. Toothpick Boxes from Scotland are extremely scarce and to find a Provincial example is very rare.
