An extremely rare George II Footed Tumbler Cup made in Dublin circa 1740 by John Gumley.

The Cup has a flared everted rim and stands on a ring foot. The front of the main body is engraved with a contemporary Crest, with the Motto Fida Clavo - Made sure with a Nail. The Crest is that of the Carr family. The Cup is in excellent condition and is very well marked. Tumblers and footed drinking cups are virtually non existent from Dublin, as so very few were made. This is the first we have offered over the years. John Gumley is a very rare maker and was a Freeman of the Dublin Goldsmiths Company 1731-44.

Height: 1.65 inches, 4.13cm.

Diameter at the rim: 2.5 inches, 6.25cm
