An extremely rare George I Book Snuff Box made in London circa 1720 by Edward Horne I.

The Snuff Box is unusually modelled in the form of a large book, with ribbed spine. The cover and base are beautifully engraved with a formal arrangement of feathery scrolls, stylised flower heads and unusual linear borders. The spine is engraved with stylised flower heads and the book title, The Daly Pracktis. The sides are engraved to simulate the leaves of the book and the interior is finely gilded. These boxes are nearly always unmarked, however this example possesses the makers mark of EH for Edward Horne I. A near identical example is shown on page 118 of British Silver Boxes 1640-1840 - The Lion Collection, The box is in quite excellent condition.
