An extremely rare Cast Parcel Gilt Harlequin Preserve Spoon made in London in 1846 by Charles & George Fox.

This very rare spoon is cast and parcel gilt. The handle is realistically modelled as a Harlequin in typical costume with hat and ruff, holding a gilt sword above his head. The hat, belt and shoes are all finely gilded, giving the spoon its parcel gilt appearance. The bowl is very finely cast as a leaf and is attached to the handle with a textured trailing vine section. This piece is in quite excellent condition and is very well marked on the reverse of the bowl. This is one of the rarest Fox designs and it is the first time we have offered one of their Harlequin spoons, such are their scarcity.

Length: 5.25 inches, 13.13cm.

Width of bowl: 1.5 inches, 3.75cm.
