As with the previous item, the Coffee Jug is modelled in the rare Bachelor size. Although Bachelor Teapots are often seen, it is most unusual to see coffee pots or jugs in this size. This piece stands on a circular spreading foot decorated with a corded border. The unusual bellied main body rises to a slender neck and unusual fluted sparrow beak pouring spout. The hinged cover has a corded edge and is slightly domed, terminating in an acorn finial. The scroll handle is covered with a wicker binding and the front of the main body is engraved with a contemporary Crest. This piece is in excellent condition and is fully marked on the base, including the incuse duty mark only used in 1784 and 1785. The cover is marked with a clear sterling and makers mark. This piece is of the finest quality as would be expected from these Royally patronised silversmiths. A rare piece.
