An exceptionally fine & rare George III Three Piece Basket Weave Teaset made in London in 1809 by Emes & Barnard.

This unusual George III Teaset is an example of the rare Basket Weave design seldom seen on the market. The Teapot is modelled in the Cape Pattern, with shaped body and lobed rim and base. The side displays a wide band of basket weave decoration, flanked on either side with stylised foliate motifs. The underside of the spout is decorated with bat wing fluting and this example displays its original harp shaped handle. The sugar basin and milk jug are modelled in the same design and display identical decoration. The loop handles, on both pieces, display leaf capped tops and are decorated with reeding. The jug and basin have finely gilded interiors and all pieces are very well marked. The quality of each piece is exceptional. A very rare and unusual set. The main body of each piece is also engraved with a contemporary lion rampant Crest.
