An exceptionally fine pair of William IV silver gilt Trailing Vine Wine Coasters made in Sheffield in 1833 by Howard, Battie & Hawksworth.

The Wine Coasters are circular in form and display pierced and chased trailing vine sides in raised relief. The decoration is in excellent condition and displays no sign of wear. The sides rise to an everted rim and also display a stepped band at the base. The Coasters have turned boxwood bases and a central silver gilt button boss, which is unusually fully marked. The main body is also well marked. The coasters are in quite excellent condition and the sides are of a good thick gauge. These would make quite some statement on the dining table or sideboard.
