An exceptional George III Cased Gold & Ivory Toothpick Box made most probably in London circa 1780

The ivory Toothpick Box is broad rectangular in form with rounded ends. The sides display three beautiful gold bright cut bands and the cover three roundels, the central one showing a beautiful miniature of a Lady in period dress surrounded by a gold and blue enamel border. The two outer roundels display stylised gold and enamel flower heads. The interior has its original velvet lining and a mirror is inset in the cover. The box is contained within its original silk lined shagreen case. This piece is one of the finest Toothpick Boxes and is in excellent condition.
