A very unusual & beautiful George III Sugar Basket made in London in 1772 by William Plummer.


The Basket stands on an unusual flared circular foot pierced with flower heads, vertical pails all enclosed by an outer gadrooned rim. The main body has a wavy corded rim and displays the same unusual designs as seen on the foot. The centre displays entwined bands engraved with herring bone designs. The basket has a pierced arched handle, shaped blue glass liner and also displays a vacant cartouche. It is fully marked in the foot. This is a very rare design which was peculiar to William Plummers workshops.

Diameter at the rim: 4.75 inches, 11.88.
