163355
The Snuff Box is broad rectangular in form with rounded ends. The cover and base are decorated with most unusual Gothic engine turning. The edge also displays a chased base of flower heads, foliate motifs and shells. The cover displays an oval flap lid with sunburst design around a vacant cartouche, all surrounded by a chased frame. This is a particularly rare design and this specific box is illustrated in Silver Boxes by Eric Delieb 2002 edition, Plate 185, Page 116.
