A very rare & unusual George III silver gilt Inkstand made in London in 1777 by Samuel Meriton.
301971
The Inkstand has four unusual leaf capped claw and ball feet and an oval stand with beaded edge and carrying handle. The two circular cages are decorated with pierced vertical pails and beading. This example also displays two tubular containers for quills and a circular dish for wafers. The silver mounted bottles are finely pierced and display beaded borders. These small inkstands were almost certainly made for a Lady and examples are very rare, especially with quill holders and wafer bowls.
