A very rare Tortoiseshell Pique Note Book made circa 1840 most probably in London.

This very rare Note Book has a Tortoiseshell cover, back and spine with outer plain silver border and hinges. The front and reverse displays very unusual silver pique work, with scroll work roundels in each corner and a central symmetrical arrangement of foliate motifs, surrounded by four quatrefoil devices. The interior displays its original emerald green silk covered note book which has never been used and its original pencil. Aide memoires were very much used at this date, however this is the earliest note book which we have offered over the years.
