A very rare pierced Mustard Pot made in London in 1859 by Charles & George Fox.

This very rare example was made by the famous Fox Brothers and stands on a shaped spreading foot. The sides are very unusually pierced with vertical pails, trailing foliate motifs and stylised flower heads. In addition the sides display two unusual beautifully pierced and engraved exotic birds in flight and a running dog, most probably trying to catch them. The cover is engraved with a vacant George II style cartouche and the scroll handle is decorated with beading and has an Onslow pattern thumb piece. The Mustard Pot is fully marked on the base and the cover and has a blue glass liner. This is a most unusual design of Mustard Pot very well executed by these quality silversmiths.

Height: 3 inches, 7.5cm.

Diameter of the base: 2.75 inches, 6.88cm.
