A very rare pair of George III Double Basket Salt Cellars made in London in 1772 by Christopher Makemead.

The Salts Cellars are unusually modelled as two baskets with pierced sides and a wave rim. The sides display unusual arch and roundel designs and each end is engraved with a contemporary Crest on an oval disc cartouche. The two baskets are joined at the top with an entwined reeded arch handle. Each Cellar, unusually, has a clear glass liner and is marked on the base. These Salts are extremely rare and are always made by the specialist pierced worker Christopher Makemeid.
