A very rare George III 'Thumb Scoop' Caddy Spoon made in Birmingham in 1803 by Joseph Taylor.

This very rare Caddy Spoon is referred to as the 'Thumb Scoop' and displays an unusual deep bowl with scalloped rim. The handle is also shaped with a scalloped rim and is engraved with bright cut designs. This piece is in quite excellent condition and is fully marked on the underside of the handle. A near identical example is illustrated on Plate 42, Fig b of 'Caddy Spoons' by Captain John Norie.
