A very rare George III Patch Box made in Birmingham circa 1810 by Joseph Taylor.

The Patch Box is circular in form with a herring bone band engraved around the sides. The stepped cover has a bright cut edge and is inset with a painted tablet of a Lady, in period costume, releasing a love bird from a cage, all in a rural lanscape. The tablet has a domed glass cover. The box is in excellent condition and is marked in the base with IT for Joseph Taylor. His workshops specialised in the production of these boxes, however examples are scarce.
