A very rare George III Filigree Pencil Holder made, most probably, in Birmingham circa 1800.

The silver-gilt pencil holder is tubular in form and is beautifully decorated with feathery scrolls and herring bone designs. The exterior displays a sliding mechanism to push the pencil out, when in use, and to retract it when finished. A very rare piece in quite excellent condition.
