A very rare George III engraved, silver mounted, Mother of Pearl Snuff Box. English and made circa 1790.

This rare Box has a deep broad rectangular form and has a silver frame on the cover and base, decorated with reeding. The cover, and sides, are most unusually engraved with wavy concentric patterns around a rosette. This engraving is most unusual being seen on mother of pearl and has being very well executed. The bottom panel is plain in design and the pearl is beautifully shaded. Due to its fragile nature it is unusual to find pocket mother of pearl snuff boxes, however to find an engraved table snuff box is very rare indeed.
