This is one of the earliest Caddy Spoon designs and displays a shell bowl and unusual bi-furcated handle decorated with bright cut bands and a vacant oval cartouche. These early spoons are very rare and a near identical example, by the same maker, is shown on Plate 2, figure e of Caddy Spoons - an illustrated guide, by Captain John Norie. The Spoon is marked on the reverse with the makers mark and sterling mark, as these early spoons usually are.
