A very rare early George I Britannia Standard Kitchen Pepper made in London in 1716 by William Fleming.
236395
The pepper stands on an applied spreading foot and the plain cylindrical body is engraved with a most unusual Angel Crest. This piece has a reeded scroll handle and the stepped domed pull off cover is pierced with plain roundels. The pepper is in excellent condition and is fully marked on the base and with the makers mark and leopards head erased on the cover. This is a very desirable early date for a Kitchen pepper, being only two years after Queen Annes reign.
