A very rare and important George III Strawberry Dish made in London in 1802 by William Bennett.

The Strawberry Dish is of typical form with a very attractive shaped rim and the high sides are decorated with swirling lobes. The front of the main body is engraved with a contemporary Crest, issuing from the Coronet of a Duke. The Crest is that for Spencer, as used by George Spencer-Churchill,5th Duke of Marlborough of Blenheim Palace, Woodstock, Oxfordshire. A number of sales where held at Blenheim in the 19th century before the arrival of Consuelo Vanderbilt,wife of the 9th Duke, whose enormous dowry changed the fortunes of the family.
