A very rare and exceptional pair of George IV Chop Tongs made in London in 1823 by William Eley & William Fearn.

These exceptional tongs are modelled in the Kings pattern, with a reeded outer border. The wide grips are beautifully pierced with unusual foliate sprays. The arched top is engraved with the Coronet and initial of of John Campbell, Lord Glenorchy, later Marquis of Breadalbane. The Tongs are in excellent condition and are very well marked. The arms are of an exceptional gauge as would be expected from these premier flatware makers. Chops tongs are not common and were not made in great quantities.

Length: 10.5 inches, 26.25cm.
