This very unusual pair of Ice Spades are silver gilt and modelled in the Old English Thread pattern, which is double struck. The bowls are beautifully shaped, with waisted sides and the top of the stems are engraved with a contemporary Crest. The Spades would have been used to serve ice cream and sorbets during the dessert course. They are in most excellent condition and are very well marked. Pairs of ice spades seldom appear on the market today and were not made in great numbers during the Eighteenth century.
