A very fine & unusual pair of George II cast Corinthian Column Candlesticks made in London in 1758 by Robert Rew.
209664
The Candlesticks are cast and stand on a square base decorated with gadrooning and a circular scroll band, displaying shells in each corner. The base rises to a fluted Classical Column, with Corinthian top, beautifully engraved and pierced. The pull-off square nozzles are of a very good gauge and display a gadrooned rim. The modelling of the columns is particularly fine and the bases are most unusually decorated.
