A very fine pair of George III cast Candlesticks made in London in 1770 by John Carter II.
The Candlesticks are cast and stand on a square foot decorated with gadrooning. The base displays an unusual domed section decorated with swirl flat fluting and rises to a shaped baluster shaft decorated with gadrooned bands and swirl flat fluting. The pull off nozzles are circular in form and have an outer gadrooned rim. The candlesticks are in quite excellent condition and are fully marked in the foot and with the sterling mark on the nozzles. The sleeve of the nozzles are also engraved with IH to M*H Y, almost certainly denoting a marriage gift.
