A very fine George III Tortoiseshell Pique Scent Etui made, most probably, in London circa 1780.

The Etui has a slightly tapering, cut cornered, rectangular form. The exterior is beautifully decorated with foliate scroll work around a Neo-Classical bright cut oval medallion, engraved with a flower head on one side and a set of contemporary script initials on the other. The hinged cover displays a very unusual silver snow flake motif on both sides. The Etui opens up to reveal its original glass scent bottle, with stopper, and a red velvet interior.
