The Nutmeg Grater is broad rectangular in form and is beautifully engraved on the cover with wriggle work designs around an oval cartouche containing an unusual sunburst motif, engraved in the centre with contemporary script initials - a most unusual design. The sides are decorated with prick dot bands and a band of foliate motifs on a scratch engraved ground. The base is engraved with a waisted frame cartouche decorated with foliate motifs and a central floral spray.
