A very fine George III antique silver Snuffer Tray made in London in 1774 by Robert Hennell.
The Snuffer Tray is modelled in the Neo Classical tradition and has a very unusual waisted design. The rim is decorated with applied gadrooning and the sides are pierced with plain vertical pails, arch work and cross motifs. This piece displays a carrying handle which is decorated with leaf capping and the silver base is engraved with a contemporary Crest. The tray is of exceptional quality and gauge, one of the finest examples of this period we have offered. The base is loaded with wood and displays a crisp set of hallmarks.
