This very rare Basket was made in London in 1765 by Vere & Lutwyche, who specialised in the production of these wirework designs. Each stands on a circular foot and the main body has a wavy reeded rim and plain bowl engraved with a contemporary elephant and castle Crest. The main body has a wirework frame, which is beautifully decorated with grapes and trailing vines, tied with ribbons. The twisted ropework handle is also decorated with vine leaves. This design of basket is unusual and the condition is excellent.
